What is Gardom's Edge and what is so special about it..........
The enclosure built by several rocks was possibly built
by the Neolithic's as a meeting place. Other similar enclosures
are believed to be used as places such as graveyards, but
there is no evidence to suggest that, therefore it is more likely
that this particular enclosure was used as a meeting place
The standing stone is a large triangular stone on Gardom's
Edge. It is believed that it was used as a sundial, in order to
record what time of year it was, by the Neolithic's. This is
suggested due to its unique shape and positioning, which is
lined up with the sun's annual movements
The piece of rock art found on Gardom's Edge is a large
rock with a unique pattern on it. It contains several circles
with dots or spirals inside each circle. The meaning for these
patterns is unknown, and it may have changed depending on
who you were, as well as it might of changed over time and it
may have had social or spiritual meanings.
