Making the case for an astronomical alignment

Page history last edited by dan 10 years, 9 months ago

This is a talk presenting results and ideas developed with the help of several previous placement students. As a response to this international talk we are now strengthening the case for a seasonal sundial at Gardom's.

The team on site ...

The singular standing stone at Gardom's Edge could be astronomically aligned stone erected during the Neolithic period. But to make this case we (Daniel, Isaac, Ashleigh and Matt) are currently working on the following....

What is the potential alignment of the stone?

Is the stone not just a random rock?

Is the shape of the rock special?

How did this rock get its shape?

What is the Neolithic period exactly?

What is Archaeoastronomy?

The Indian Circle

Hi everyone,
On this page we'll post the work as it progresses with results and resources. Do have a look at this page and comment or email either Daniel, Isaac or Ashleigh to let them know if you agree with some of their work or have some other ideas to follow up on. Especially, it is important that you three understand what each of you is writing and developing.
Cheers,
Dan
